Khaimah : A Profile of the
Emirate
Ras Al Khaimah is
one of the seven emirates that comprise the United
Arab Emirates. Historically known for its cultural
, political & commercial infrastructure, this
ancient emirate portrays the rich & varied
heritage of the region. The emirate boasts a
glorious naval past and is reckoned an important
trading centre. During the past two decades Ras AL
Khaimah, has witnessed remarkable advancements,
particularly in the fields of commerce &
education.
His Highness
,Sheikh Saqr Bin Mohammed Al
Qassimi has been ruling the emirate since 1948 and
by virtue of this fact , is considered to be the
longest-serving ruler in the world. Ras Al Khaimah
has excellent potential for tourism, being blessed
with natural scenic beauty-hills & s beautiful
beaches- in addition to a wealth historical
monuments. The emirate also has good five star
hotel facilities. National Museum: it was
originally a historical fortress, which was used
as a residence by the Ruling Family. The museum
exhibits a variety of a rare relics and fossils
which date back to different historical periods.
The Conical Towers, Al Zeba palace, The Mountain
of Julphar, Dhaya Fortress & Al Ghaf Valley
are all tourist attractions. Ras Al Khaimah
International Airport operates 24 hours a day on
one of the busiest international air routes,
midway between Europe & Australia & has
the capacity to handle all types of aircraft
including wide bodies jets & supersonic
transport. The airport is situated only 10Km from
Ras Al Khaimah Exhibition Centre.
